Mike Lawyer is the owner/operator of Parachute Fly Fishing.
I grew up fishing farm ponds for sunfish with a cane pole under the watchful eye of my grandparents. I started working in kitchens, moved away for school, and generally got too busy to spend an afternoon slowing down and throwing a few casts.
I came to fly fishing around 2010 while backpacking in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. I watched brook trout eagerly snatch bugs from the waters surface and bought a cheap starter kit on my next resupply stop in town. No brook trout were caught on that trip, and wouldn’t be for months, but I became fixated on searching every beautiful stream I could reach and trying to connect with jewels within.
Over the years, I have be fortunate enough to fish in many beautiful corners of North America. I love the diversity in species and technique, the venues ,the craft. I love the intimacy and sense of place. I want to share that with you.
Whether you’ve never held a fly rod in your life, you’re looking to hone a skill, or seeking to challenge yourself in a new place, I’m here to help.
